Our History
Founded in 1978, Indian Earth Cosmetics introduced The Original Indian Earth, one of the first all-natural, multipurpose mineral makeup products. It quickly gained popularity and was soon sold by major retailers, including Bloomingdale's and Macy's.

After several successful years, however, the company began experiencing financial challenges. Because our powder is so richly pigmented, a little goes a long way — the jar may look like it holds less than it does, but each one is formulated to last many, many years. Faced with the possibility of bankruptcy, the company adopted a more sustainable business model and redesigned the packaging.
